Sweet apples and smoky bourbon collide with delicious results. It starts with a blend of romaine lettuce, carrots, and red cabbage and ends with fresh diced apples, smoked gouda, golden honey almonds, and one of bourbon’s best friends: smoky bacon. It’s all topped with a mouth-watering maple bourbon vinaigrette!

This was delicious and not too sweet – thought it wouldn’t work as a salad but was lovely crunchy and refreshing

Very Pleasantly Surprised!
When I saw Apple and Bourbon on the packet, I was less than enthused about trying this product as I am not a fan of bourbon flavoured products. We had it with homemade fish and chips and honestly, I was blown away. The bourbon flavour wasn’t what I expected, it was much smokier and paired really well with the dehydrated apple and the freshness of the slaw with the creaminess of the cheese. I will definitely buy this again!
+ PROS: Surprising smoky flavour pairs really well with the tartness/sweetness of apple and creaminess of the cheese.
Would make an excellent side for meals like slow cooked brisket, fried chicken etc.
- CONS:Smoky flavour might make it hard to use as a side for simple meals.
This was an interesting change from regular coleslaw. I liked the addition of the crunchy apple cubes, and the cheese. Actually could do with even a bit more cheese! The maple bourbon was ok – the flavour was definitely there, but I’m not sold on it as a coleslaw seasoning. I usually like creamy coleslaw dressings. After tasting a few bites as-is, we had ours with southern fried chicken on a burger bun with lots of mayo. This was a great pairing.
