Grease three round cake pans with butter.

Preheat oven to 190°C.

Place softened butter, sugar and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Using a hand or stand mixer, combine together until the mixture is pale yellow, light and fluffy.

Add in eggs to the mixture one at a time, beating well after each egg.

In a separate bowl sift cake flour, baking powder and salt together.

Combine egg mixture with dry ingredients and add chocolate milk. Mix well.

Pour into greased cake pans.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Cool completely and add icing if desired.
